Industry Ministry Reveals the Truth About the List of 46 Banned Goods

The Ministry of Industry and Trade announced it will hold a press conference today, Tuesday, to clarify the circumstances surrounding the leaked decision attributed to the Cabinet regarding the ban on importing 46 goods.

Sources within the Ministry confirmed that what has been circulating does not represent a final decision, but rather a preliminary proposal that has undergone review. The Ministry has reconsidered the list and removed several goods, most notably rice, tomato paste, production inputs, and cement, in addition to other goods deemed essential by the Ministry in light of the current economic conditions.

The Ministry emphasized that the upcoming press conference will reveal details of the amendments and explain the criteria used in reviewing the list, aiming to achieve a balance between protecting domestic industry and meeting the basic needs of citizens.

With this, the Ministry seeks to put an end to speculation and clarify the situation for the public, affirming that any final decision will be issued after a thorough study that takes into account the economic and social interests of the country.
