GIS Sponsors Voluntary return of Sudanese from Egypt
The voluntary return train, carrying 1,100 Sudanese passengers, departed yesterday for Aswan, from where they will continue on to various cities in Sudan.
Sudanese Ambassador to Cairo, Lieutenant General Engineer Emad El-Din Adawi, told journalists during a farewell ceremony for travelers at Ramses Station that the voluntary return trips on train number 41, consisting of ten carriages, have resumed. He explained that this trip is provided free of charge by the Security and Intelligence Service. The Ambassador praised the warm hospitality of the Egyptian people towards the Sudanese people, saying that the historic Ramses Railway Station has received many Sudanese travelers returning to Sudan, especially after the great victories achieved by the valiant armed forces, supported by all branches and personnel of the armed forces, who made great efforts and sacrificed lives for the sake of the beloved Sudan.
Adawi added that the way has been paved for the return of the Sudanese people from all sectors, and in Egypt they are treated as brothers and dear guests. Therefore, we thank His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who has consistently directed and followed up on the implementation of all directives. He also praised the efforts of Prime Minister Dr. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, the director of Cairo’s main train station, and Minister of Transport, Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, who directed all ministry personnel to contribute to transporting Sudanese citizens wishing to return to Sudan, announced the resumption of free flights.
He also announced the gradual resumption of these flights, supported by the GIS, and commended the previous efforts of the Defense Industries System, as well as the efforts of the Hope Committee for Voluntary Return, a national popular committee tasked with this significant mission, supported by numerous volunteers and media personnel.
The Minister also directed all ministry personnel to contribute to the repatriation efforts. He expressed his hope that the return to the homeland would continue and that people would participate in reconstruction efforts, “after the armed forces protected the land and its people.”
He stated that the best means of transport for Sudanese citizens to their homeland is by train, and therefore train journeys would continue. He also touched upon the depth of Sudanese-Egyptian relations.
For his part, the director of Cairo’s main train station, Dr. Yasser Abdullah, said that the Sudanese and Egyptian people have been “one hand” since ancient times. He emphasized the respect shown to the Sudanese people and expressed deep sorrow at their departure from Egypt. He noted the presence of Egyptian families bidding farewell to the Sudanese families and mentioned the Minister of Transport’s directives to be fully prepared and to facilitate the voluntary return procedures, providing complete support within Cairo’s main train station and closely monitoring the journey throughout the thousand-kilometer route until its arrival. He also announced the addition of a carriage to the train specifically for transporting passengers’ luggage. Speaking to journalists, the embassy’s advisor, Qarib Allah Abdul Aziz, affirmed the embassy’s efforts to ensure the comfort of returning travelers at every stage of the journey, from Cairo to Aswan, then to Halfa, and so on. The rest of the Sudanese states, and stressed that the return contributes to alleviating the great pressures that are occurring. He said that thanks to the media efforts, the Sudanese community is being made aware of the laws that regulate the presence of foreigners. He thanked Egypt, government and people, for the hospitality in a difficult and sensitive situation, and praised the support and facilitation of the presence of Sudanese people.
He added, “We also commend the General Intelligence and Security Service for sponsoring this trip, which is a great work.” He emphasized the commitment to protecting the Sudanese people and providing means for their presence or return to the homeland in peace and security.
