Finance Minister leads Sudan’s delegation to the 58th Conference of African Finance Ministers

A Sudanese delegation is participating in the 58th Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, held under the auspices of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). The conference is being hosted by the Kingdom of Morocco in Tangier from March 28 to April 3, 2026. This year’s conference theme is “Growth through Innovation: Harnessing Data and Advanced Technologies for Africa’s Economic Transformation.” The event is being attended by a number of African ministers of finance, planning, and economic development, central bank governors, and representatives of development partners and international institutions.

The Sudanese delegation is headed by His Excellency Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, Minister of Finance, and includes a high-level delegation from the Central Bank of Sudan, led by the First Deputy Governor, Mr. Al-Mutasim Abdullah Al-Faki, as well as several administrators and technical staff. This participation is part of Sudan’s official representation at this important annual continental conference.

The 58th session features a series of ministerial meetings, technical sessions, and specialized workshops aimed at strengthening financial and economic cooperation among African countries. It also facilitates the exchange of expertise in fiscal, monetary, and planning policies that support inclusive growth and sustainable development across the continent, in addition to exploring mechanisms for leveraging data technology and digital innovation to bolster economic transformation.

His Excellency the Minister of Finance emphasized Sudan’s keen interest in actively participating in the conference, stating, “Our country’s representation at this session stems from our commitment to strengthening African partnerships and exchanging economic development perspectives with our counterparts from other African nations, based on the values ​​of cooperation and continental solidarity.”

For his part, the First Deputy Governor of the Central Bank explained that “the participation of the Central Bank delegation reflects Sudan’s commitment to actively contributing to discussions on shared monetary and fiscal policies and exchanging expertise with African central bank governors in a way that enhances economic stability and supports investment and development.”

Sudan’s participation in this session embodies the country’s continued commitment to supporting continental economic integration efforts and strengthening cooperation with regional and international development partners, thereby contributing to the advancement of the national economy and the achievement of comprehensive development goals.
