Federal Minister of Health Calls for Innovative Mechanisms to Combat Dengue Fever and Strengthen Community Participation

Health situation reports in the country indicate a decline in dengue fever cases in most states, except for River Nile State, which is witnessing an increase. Meanwhile, malaria cases have risen again after previously declining in 12 states, including Khartoum, ( Gezira ), Northern State, and River Nile.
The Surveillance and Information Report, presented during the Federal Emergency Operations Center meeting held today, Tuesday, at the main hall of the Federal Ministry of Health, noted the (recording) of 7 meningitis cases with no reported deaths, from Khartoum and Gezira , during the week of April 18–25. Meanwhile, Gezira and Blue Nile states continue to report cases of Hepatitis E, with a cumulative total of 129 cases.
The response report also highlighted the continued reporting of dengue fever cases in several states, activation of technical committees, and ongoing treatment for Hepatitis E cases. It further noted continued health promotion activities, in addition to training health personnel in Khartoum and Gezira on sample collection for suspected meningitis cases.
The report pointed out that 58,577 families have been displaced from some states to others, including North Darfur, North Kordofan, Northern State, River Nile, and White Nile. At the same time, the influx of refugees continues into Gedaref, White Nile, Kassala, and South Kordofan states. It also noted irregular activities by organizations in White Nile State, considering the ongoing influx of displaced persons from the Kordofan and Darfur regions a major challenge.
For his part, Undersecretary Dr. Ali Babiker called for the preparation of a brief report on the Emergency Operations Center meeting to be submitted to the weekly Undersecretary Council meeting, in order to review implementation progress and required budgets.
