Details of the Airstrike in Nyala

Osama Hassan Hussein, a leader in the “Founding Alliance” and a candidate for the position of Minister of Youth and Sports in the parallel government, was killed in an airstrike carried out by a drone targeting a location in the “Khartoum Balil” neighborhood of Nyala, South Darfur.

In an official statement, Mohamed Hassan al-Ta’aishi, Prime Minister of the parallel government, reported that the attack directly targeted a meeting of several political figures, including Health Minister Dr. Alaa al-Din Nuqud and the head of the leadership council, Makin Hamid Tirab. He described the operation as a “heinous crime” characterized by premeditation and representing a dangerous escalation in the conflict through the targeting of civilian leaders.

In the same context, informed sources revealed that the attack was carried out with two missiles just two minutes apart (7:45 and 7:47 PM). They confirmed that al-Ta’aishi was present at the location and was quickly evacuated immediately after the attack. The sources indicated that the strike resulted in civilian casualties in the vicinity, causing widespread panic in the area.

On the ground, reports indicated that military operations also targeted militia depots and gatherings in central Nyala, leading to the closure of main streets (Cinema and Al-Daein) and clashes on the city’s outskirts.

Following the attacks, the city of Nyala witnessed a state of security chaos, as shops closed their doors due to looting and threats with weapons. Nyala Hospital also announced a work stoppage after an attack on one of the doctors and the kidnapping of another to an unknown location, amid the absence of an accurate statistic for the total number of victims so far.
