China Affirms Continued Support for Sudan and Commitment to Participating in Reconstruction

The Secretary-General of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Dr. Mohamed Al-Ghali Ali Youssef, affirmed the strength of Sudanese-Chinese relations, emphasizing Sudan’s keenness to develop prospects for joint cooperation in a way that achieves the mutual interests of both countries.

During his meeting today at the Council’s General Secretariat headquarters with the Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Sudan, Xu Jian, Lieutenant General Dr. Mohamed Al-Ghali expressed the Sudanese government’s appreciation for China’s supportive stances towards the country in various fields.

For his part, the Chinese Chargé d’Affaires described the meeting as “fruitful,” explaining that it addressed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, and both sides expressed their complete satisfaction with the level of the existing strategic partnership between Beijing and Khartoum.

Jian indicated that the discussions touched upon joint cooperation, affirming China’s continued support for development efforts in Sudan and its participation in the post-war reconstruction process. He also noted the agreement to maintain communication and coordination between the Chinese Embassy and the General Secretariat of the Sovereignty Council.

Regarding the maintenance of vital facilities, the Chinese Chargé d’Affaires explained that the commencement of restoration and rehabilitation work on the new Presidential Palace and the Friendship Hall is contingent upon an improvement in the security situation in the country.
