A workshop in Khartoum to draw up a roadmap for national recovery
On Monday, a technical workshop organized by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers concluded. The workshop aimed to align and integrate the “Committee for the Reconstruction of Post-War Sudan and the Mending of the Social Fabric” plan with the state’s five-year strategic plan (2026-2030). It saw broad participation from undersecretaries of ministries and a group of experts and academics.
The Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Ali Mohamed Ali, affirmed that organizing the workshop is part of the “Government of Hope’s” efforts to manage and coordinate the performance of the executive branch with partners in success. These partners include those with responsibility, expertise, and experience, as well as those with opinions, ideas, and national initiatives. The goal is to achieve national consensus on critical issues and produce a national interests document encompassing good governance, justice, balanced development, and fundamental rights such as security, health, and education. He noted that the recommendations will be submitted to the “Strategic Hope Forum,” chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Kamel Idris approved it.
Mohammed Hussein Abu Saleh, head of the Technical Support Committee, stressed the need for the state to shift from activity-based planning to results-based planning to ensure a tangible impact on citizens’ lives. He emphasized that the real challenge lies in formulating a comprehensive national project that begins with psychological and social reconstruction, leading to economic reconstruction and national recovery.
In a related context, Emad El-Din Ardeeb,Vice-Chancellor of the University of Khartoum and head of the “Post-War Sudan Reconstruction and Social Fabric Restoration” Committee, reviewed the initiative’s progress, explaining that it was launched through collaboration between the University of Khartoum and the University of Medical Sciences and Technology. He affirmed the university professors’ commitment to actively contributing to national recovery.
The workshop’s activities were divided into intensive discussion sessions across several committees that addressed the themes of governance and the rule of law, media and foreign relations, economic resources and infrastructure, health, education and services, as well as the themes of youth, women, and social fabric.
