It confirmed the immediate implementation of the increase stipulated in the 2026 budget for the armed forces, in addition to discussing arrangements for civil servants and the retirement age.
This came during the committee meeting held yesterday in Khartoum, attended by the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Dr. Lamia Abdel Ghaffar, a number of ministers from the economic sector, and officials from relevant authorities.
Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism, Khaled Al-Eisir, explained that the meeting also discussed several important economic issues, including the Gezira Scheme Governor’s report on the project’s rehabilitation efforts, in coordination with relevant authorities, following the damage it sustained in the past. The meeting commended the progress made in reconstruction operations and emphasized the commitment to overcoming the challenges facing the project, given its importance as a cornerstone of the national economy.
The meeting also reviewed the status of petroleum imports in light of regional developments and examined the Ministry of Energy’s efforts to provide electricity generators and ensure a stable power supply in the capital, Khartoum.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the committee directed the formation of a committee, chaired by the Minister of Industry and Trade, to review customs duties and taxes on building materials. This committee is to submit its report to the Higher Economic Committee within one week.
