The annual Iftar of ADSC in Côte d’Ivoir .
The Association of Graduates of Sudanese Universities and Higher Institutes in Sudan (ADSC) held its annual Iftar at the Grand Riviera Mosque in the heart of Abidjan, the capital, on Friday, February 27, 2026.
The Iftar is an annual event organized by the Association of Graduates of Sudanese Universities and Higher Institutes, an active organization with ambitious programs to promote Islamic education and raise awareness among young people. The event was covered by Radio Al-Bayan, the official Islamic radio station in Côte d’Ivoire.
Attendees included officials from the Supreme Council of Imams, Preachers, and Islamic Affairs in Côte d’Ivoire, the Imam of the Riviera Mosque, and a significant number of Sudanese university and higher institute graduates, both men and women. The head and members of the Sudanese community residing in Abidjan were also invited.
The program included speeches from representatives of several Islamic organizations and the head of the Association of Graduates of Sudanese Universities and Higher Institutes. It is worth noting the presence of the municipal authority of Cocody, represented by Mr. Sanogo Mamadou, 4th Deputy Mayor of Cocody, had also delivered his speech. Besides, Ambassador Mukhtar Bilal Abdel Salam, Chargé d’Affaires of the Sudanese Embassy in Abidjan, addressed the gathering.
Ambassador Mukhtar Bilal began his speech by congratulating everyone on the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan, wishing peace and security to prevail throughout the two brotherly countries. He noted that he came from a country distant in distance but close in the hearts of Ivorians in general, and Muslims in particular, who have always shown their solidarity with Sudan in its ongoing war between good and evil.
He pointed out that he found Côte d’Ivoire to be a cohesive country where Muslims contribute positively to all aspects of life and to the security and stability of their nation. He added that graduates of Sudanese universities and higher institutes enjoy a distinguished and advanced position among their Muslim peers.
He spoke about the war in Sudan, stating that it reflects a major conspiracy led by global Zionist forces, with the participation of regional parties supporting terrorist militias. He expressed his optimism that right would prevail and that the war was nearing its end, evidenced by the army’s victories and the government’s return to Khartoum since the beginning of the year. In addition, studies have resumed at most Sudanese universities. Professor Hatem Osman Mohamed Khaira has been appointed Director of the International University of Africa, and classes have begun regularly for the lower semesters and will continue normally as before starting next academic year.
Mr. Zakaria Diarasoba, President of the Association of Graduates of Universities and Higher Institutes in Sudan, delivered a speech thanking the Sudanese government and embassy for providing quality study opportunities in Sudan and for offering every possible means for the students’ comfort. He considered Sudan their second home, one that has given them so much and will always hold a special place in their hearts.
The Association President expressed his hopes for peace and security to prevail in Sudan and for it to return to its former role as a leader in education in Africa. He noted that they stand in solidarity with Sudan in its existential struggle and pray for its well-being at all times. The iftar gathering was a wonderful opportunity to meet a large number of graduates from Sudanese universities and higher institutes since the 1980s and 1990s, who have forged their own paths in life, some holding prominent positions in the government, others working in commerce, as well as recent graduates and members of the Sudanese community, all in a truly Sudanese Ramadan atmosphere. It was a great chance to check in on each other’s well-being and strengthen social ties.
