SSMO Completes Examination and Analysis of Over 4 Tons of Gold Exports

The Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization (SSMO) in the Red Sea State announced the completion of examination and analysis of 4.195 tons of gold exports from companies and remanufactured bullion, in addition to 130 kilograms of silver exports, as part of the statistics for the first quarter of this year.

The SSMO, through its Precious Metals Stamping Unit, revealed that it processed 245 kilograms of imported gold jewelry and 117 kilograms of locally manufactured jewelry, in addition to analyzing 2.591 tons of bullion for local use.

Walid Mohamed Osman, the head of the authority’s state sector, affirmed his department’s complete readiness to implement all technical operations related to gold exports using qualified personnel and high-precision technologies. He emphasized the continued cooperation with both the public and private sectors to facilitate the flow of exports and protect the national economy.

For his part, Khalifa Mohamed Osman, head of the Measurement and Calibration Department, highlighted the unit’s strategic oversight role in determining purity levels and conducting stamping and weighing operations in accordance with the law. Meanwhile, Riyad Mahjoub, head of the Precious Metals Stamping Unit, explained that technical efforts are ongoing to verify compliance with the required standards for gold bullion intended for export and for local production, ensuring the quality and competitiveness of the precious metal.
