Minnawi, Oshar, and Daoud Review the Features of the Democratic Bloc’s New Structure:
The Democratic Bloc held an expanded leadership meeting in Port Sudan, dedicated to discussing the bylaws and developing the organizational structures of the largest political alliance in the country. The attendees announced the approval of the bylaws and set the 25th of Ramadan as the date for the leaders’ meeting to finalize the document.
Minnawi: Praise for the Media and Denies Nominations
The head of the bloc’s political committee and Governor of Darfur, Commander Minni Arko Minnawi, opened the meeting by praising the pivotal role of the press and media in conveying the bloc’s activities to the public. In a decisive statement, Minnawi denied reports that the bloc had yet submitted any lists of candidates to represent it in the Legislative Council, stressing that the current focus is on internal restructuring.
Dr. Abdul Aziz Oshar, a member of the bloc’s leadership, explained that the three-day meetings discussed fundamental amendments to the bylaws.
He added that a comprehensive restructuring and 25 specialized secretariats are underway.
Oshar emphasized that the new system regulates inter-agency relations and defines the jurisdictions of the leadership bodies, which include the Leadership Council, the Presidential Council, and the Executive Council. Oshar also revealed the creation of broad specialized sectors encompassing: political affairs, foreign relations, professionals, regional affairs, the economy, legal affairs, peace and displaced persons, culture and media, and women’s affairs. These sectors are further divided into approximately 25 secretariats to ensure comprehensive coverage of all national and humanitarian issues.

In the same vein, the bloc leader, Secretary Daoud, described the meeting as “foundational and expanded,” noting that the drafting of the “expanded constitution” aims to accommodate the forces currently and in the future affiliated with the bloc.
Daoud emphasized that this step comes in preparation for a “pivotal” phase requiring clear and disciplined political mechanisms to confront national challenges. Internal and External Action
In the same context, Sally Zaki, a leading figure in the Democratic Bloc, stated that the meeting concluded with a comprehensive vision for revitalizing the bloc’s roles in the coming phase, both internally, to address the Sudanese crisis, and externally, through engagement with regional and international powers.
The final version of the bylaws is scheduled to be submitted to the leadership body (Council of Presidents) for ratification at the upcoming Ramadan meeting, signaling the launch of a new phase of political activity for the alliance.
