Foreign Minister: Sudan Stands with Arab States Against Aggression

Foreign Minister and Minister of International Cooperation, Mohi El-Din Salem Ahmed, affirmed Sudan’s strong support and full solidarity with Arab states in confronting aggression, emphasizing that Arab national security is “indivisible.”

During his chairmanship of the Sudanese delegation at the Arab League Council meeting at the ministerial level, held via video conference, the Minister expressed Sudan’s condemnation of the Iranian attacks targeting several Arab countries, civilian targets, and infrastructure, describing it as a clear violation of established principles of international law and a direct threat to civilian lives.

The Minister announced Sudan’s support for any legitimate measures and actions taken by Arab states to protect their sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also commended the measured and balanced response of Arab leaders, which adhered to international principles and demonstrated wisdom and restraint, thus preventing the region from descending into a spiral of violence.

The Minister further praised the diplomatic efforts exerted to avert further escalation in the region, particularly commending the role played by the Sultanate of Oman in bridging viewpoints, as well as the efforts of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the State of Qatar in this regard.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Minister reiterated Sudan’s support for Lebanon in the face of the targeting it is experiencing, warning of the dangers of the conflict widening and spreading, and the potentially serious repercussions this could have on regional and international peace and security, the security of international waterways, and the stability of global energy supplies.

He called on influential parties in the international community to intensify their efforts to halt the escalation and create the conditions for a return to the negotiating table, adopting dialogue as the means to resolve differences.
