(Anti-Smuggling) forces seize 238 kg of crystal meth, weapons, and copper
In a new security achievement reflecting the vigilance of the authorities, the Red Sea State Anti-Smuggling Department, in coordination with the General Intelligence Service, thwarted a major smuggling attempt involving large quantities of drugs (238 kg of crystal meth), weapons, and a quantity of copper. This operation targeted various locations within the state.
The seizure was overseen by Lieutenant General Mustafa Mohamed Nour, Governor of the Red Sea State, in the presence of Major General Nabigh Al-Madani Ahmed Al-Madani, Assistant Director General for Compliance and Facilitation (representing the Director General of Customs), along with other Assistant Directors General, Directors of General Departments, and a number of officers.
The Governor of the Red Sea State praised the high professionalism and vigilance of the anti-smuggling forces, emphasizing that customs represents a “protector and support” for the economy and national security. He commended the high morale of the administration’s personnel in thwarting those who threaten the security of the state.
For his part, Lieutenant General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, Director General of Customs Forces, affirmed that the Customs Forces, through their anti-smuggling unit, will remain vigilant against anyone who seeks to tamper with the social and economic security of the nation. He stressed that this seizure embodies the diligent work and professionalism with which customs operates at all border crossings.
In a related context, Major General Nabigh Al-Madani praised the dedication and commitment to duty, noting that this operation confirms the vital role of customs in protecting the country from threats and dangers that target the Sudanese people and undermine the national economy.
Major General Amir Zain Al-Abidine, Assistant Director General for Combating Smuggling, stated that this significant seizure is conclusive proof of the high level of surveillance capabilities and widespread deployment of anti-smuggling forces, as well as their ability to monitor, analyze, and thwart suspicious movements in their early stages.
Brigadier General Jad Al-Karim Ahmed Al-Fadl, Director of the Anti-Smuggling Department in Red Sea State, announced that his forces successfully carried out precise preemptive operations that resulted in the seizure of 238 kilograms of crystal meth in the southern sector of the state. They also seized 15 firearms, 950 rounds of Kalashnikov ammunition, and a communication device. He further disclosed the seizure of 700 kilograms of raw copper in the northern sector of the state and indicated that the necessary legal procedures were being taken against three suspects.
