PM Meets with Yemeni President, Head of His Country’s Delegation to the Munich Security Conference

His Excellency Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris met today, Saturday, with His Excellency Yemeni President Rashad Muhammad al-Alimi, head of his country’s delegation participating in the Munich Security Conference.

His Excellency the Prime Minister emphasized the historical relations that bind the two brotherly countries and the commonalities that unite them. He conveyed the greetings of His Excellency Head of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah al-Burhan, to his brother, the Yemeni President. His Excellency discussed the developments in Sudan and the comprehensive war of aggression the country is facing. He also touched upon the government’s efforts to achieve peace and stability, culminating in the peace initiative he presented to the Security Council last December. He stressed the importance of stability for Yemen and its people, and cooperation and coordination to achieve Arab security and combat militias in the region.

For his part, the Yemeni President affirmed that Yemen’s security is intertwined with Sudan’s, and indicated his country’s full support for Sudan’s unity, stability, and territorial integrity. He also expressed his keenness to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and explore ways to support and develop them. He stated that Sudan had been subjected to a major conspiracy aimed at overthrowing the state, and emphasized the importance of combating militias in the Arab world and achieving Arab security through full cooperation among the countries of the region.
