Minnawi Comments on Uganda’s Reception of RSF Delegation Led by “Hemedti”

Darfur Governor, Minni Arko Minnawi, strongly criticized Uganda’s reception of a delegation from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), headed by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as “Hemedti,” who is accused of committing grave violations and widespread crimes against civilians in Darfur and other parts of Sudan.

Minnawi emphasized that the accusations against the RSF commander relate to serious crimes, noting that some of them – according to international reports – amount to genocide.

He questioned the official stance of African states regarding these developments, given the ongoing conflict and the worsening humanitarian crisis.

Questions about the African Position

Minnawi also addressed a message to Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, a prominent leader in the African Union, calling for a clear African position on what he described as the serious crimes committed against civilians.

He pointed out that silence regarding these violations cannot be considered neutrality, but rather could be interpreted as tacit acceptance of the continued cycle of violence and the absence of justice.

He emphasized that international, regional, and human rights organizations have already expressed their positions, while the question remains whether a unified and responsible African stance will be forthcoming.
