Minister of Health discusses the outcomes of the preparation of the national strategy to combat dengue fever in Sudan

The Federal Minister of Health, Prof. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, was briefed this afternoon on the results of the work of the national committees for the development of the national strategy to combat dengue fever in Sudan during a meeting in his office with Dr. Mohamed Abdel Rahman Noor, Advisor to the Risk Media and a member of the national team, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Federal Ministry of Health, Dr. Ali Babiker Sayed Ahmed, and a number of participating experts.

The meeting discussed the practical steps to formulate the strategy and adopt key themes based on promoting health, community engagement, and integrated interventions, in addition to the importance of structuring, financing, and activating the relevant laws.
The minister also stressed the need to coordinate with the federal government to ensure the participation of the states in controlling disease vectors.

The experts revealed the formation of specialized working groups, including the Public Health, Emergency, Promotion, and Media Laboratory, to prepare a comprehensive report that accompanies similar international experiences. They praised the role of the “White Army” health cadres in facing the epidemiological challenges and providing services despite the difficult circumstances.

The Minister praised the efforts of the national team of experts and consultants inside and outside Sudan, stressing that the national strategy to combat dengue fever will be launched soon under the auspices of the Prime Minister.
