Kassala Governor and Minnawi Discuss Outcomes of Eastern Sudan Unification Conference

The acting Governor of Kassala, Major General (Rtd) Al-Sadiq Muhammad Al-Azraq, received the Governor of Darfur, Commander Minni Arko Minnawi, at the Government Secretariat.

This meeting took place during Minnawi’s visit to Kassala to participate in the Eastern Sudan Unification Conference, an initiative of the Paramount Chief of the Hadendowa tribes, Muhammad Ahmad Muhammad Al-Amin Tirik, which was honored by the presence of Dr. Nuwara Abu Muhammad, member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council. The Governor and the Regional Governor discussed the outcomes of the two-day conference, which saw significant participation from leaders of the Native Administration, political figures, civil society organizations, and armed movements from across eastern Sudan. Minnawi expressed his pleasure at participating in the conference, which he described as a conference of pride and dignity for the Sudanese people and a symbol of unity. He indicated that if the conference’s outcomes and recommendations were implemented, they would be sufficient for a unified Sudan and a step towards the unity of Sudan, its government, and its institutions, especially the armed forces.

For his part, the Governor of Kassala welcomed the participation of the Governor of Darfur in the conference held under the slogan “Unity Builds Nations – Unity is Our Only Choice,” noting that the conference was historic, a significant contribution, and a patriotic stance affirming that the people of Sudan are united.

The Governor added that the conference, in its geographical scope, aimed to unify the people of eastern Sudan, but also to unite all Sudanese as one in support of the armed forces. He explained that the Governor of Darfur’s visit and his presence at the conference held great significance, representing a genuine contribution and significant social and national value.

The Governor expressed his gratitude to the forces of the Sudan Liberation Army Movement, led by Minnawi, for their efforts and participation in the War of Dignity, their heroic stances, and their immense sacrifices in El Fasher, which set the finest example in protecting the land and honor.
