Extensive Media Attention for Energy Minister’s Participation in Indian Energy Week
The participation of the Minister of Energy, Engineer Al-Mutasim Ibrahim Ahmed, in Indian Energy Week 2026 in Goa, garnered significant media attention from India and on social media. The Indian Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri, tweeted:
“I was pleased to meet His Excellency Professor Al-Mutasim Ibrahim Ahmed Ali, Minister of Energy and Petroleum of the Republic of Sudan, on the sidelines of Indian Energy Week 2026 in Goa. We discussed avenues for cooperation in the hydrocarbon value chain and the Indian Prime Minister’s program (PM Ujjwala Yojana), which is a successful model for providing energy to off-grid areas through biomass-based solutions. It has achieved tangible results and can offer valuable lessons for countries facing significant energy deficits where a considerable portion of the population still relies on biomass for cooking.”

Similarly, the Saudi news agency Fananews.com quoted Minister Al-Mu’tasim as saying that Sudan seeks to strengthen cooperation with India to rebuild the energy sector after the extensive damage inflicted on oil infrastructure by militia attacks. He explained that his country is working to deepen its partnership with India in the oil and energy sectors to rehabilitate damaged facilities and resume production.
Alongside the minister, the Director General of the Sudanese Thermal Power Generation Company Limited, Dr. Madawi Abdel Karim, participated in several meetings with Indian companies operating in the energy and electricity sectors. Counselor Mohamed Ali Fazari, representing the Sudanese Embassy in New Delhi, also participated in the conference, along with the minister and his accompanying delegation. This participation reflects Sudan’s active presence in international energy forums, and its keenness to expand cooperation with regional and international partners, in order to support reconstruction efforts and achieve energy security and sustainable development in the country.
