“We have indications that peace is inevitable; we will guide it until we reach safe harbor” Says PM

Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris declared 2026 the Year of Peace, in accordance with the National Peace Initiative presented by the government.

Dr. Kamil, in a press briefing held today at the Khartoum State Government Secretariat, described the National Peace Initiative as a purely Sudanese initiative that has received unlimited support at the international and regional levels, most recently from the International Committee of the Red Cross.

He emphasized that peace is a goal for the government, but it is a peace of the brave, one that the Sudanese people accept, especially since war was imposed upon them.

He added, “We have indications that peace is inevitable, and we will guide it until we reach safe harbor.”
