US Praises Sudanese Government’s Decision

Musaad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the US President on African and Arab Affairs, praised the important decision taken by the Sudanese authorities to extend the opening of the Adré border crossing for humanitarian aid. Boulos noted that, given the suffering of millions of Sudanese and their dire need for assistance, measures to facilitate the delivery of aid are more important than ever. He called on all parties to fulfill their commitments, provide aid without hindrance, and immediately agree to a humanitarian truce that would lay the foundations for lasting peace.

The Sudanese government decided to extend the opening of the Adré border crossing on the Sudanese-Chadian border for humanitarian aid delivered by international organizations from January 1st to March 31st, 2026. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed in a press statement that this step affirms the government’s commitment to ensuring aid reaches those in need and demonstrates its good faith in facilitating humanitarian work and coordinating with international organizations in accordance with national and international laws and regulations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that the extension of the crossing’s opening came despite the atrocities and grave violations committed by the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia after they entered the cities of El Fasher, Babanusa and Heglig, which resulted in the deaths of thousands of innocent citizens. The Ministry expressed its hope that sisterly and friendly countries and humanitarian organizations would hasten to provide the required assistance and redouble efforts to meet the urgent needs in the region in full coordination with the relevant Sudanese state agencies.
