The Sudanese Red Crescent receives an aid convoy from the Egyptian Red Crescent

Ashkit – Wadi Halfa

A humanitarian aid convoy from the Egyptian Red Crescent to the Sudanese Red Crescent Society arrived at the Ashkit land crossing in Wadi Halfa locality this afternoon, carrying about 70 tons of foodstuffs, shelter materials, medical consumables, and personal hygiene kits. The convoy was accompanied by Professor Yasser Abdullah, Administrative Director of the Egyptian Red Crescent, while the reception ceremony was honored by His Excellency Ambassador Bassem Taman, the Egyptian Consul General in Wadi Halfa.

The convoy was received by a team from the General Secretariat of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, the authorities of the Ashkit crossing, and the supervisor of the Sudanese Red Crescent in Wadi Halfa locality.

Bushy Mahmoud, Emergency Representative at the General Secretariat of the Sudanese Red Crescent, thanked the Egyptian people for their continuous support,stressing the strength of relations between the two brotherly peoples.

Managing Director of the Egyptian Red Crescent, Yasser Abdullah,explained that this is the first land convoy and was preceded by three ships that were delivered at the port of Port Sudan several months ago. He indicated that the convoy consists of twelve trucks that covered a distance of two thousand kilometers,Stressing the strength of relations between the two brotherly peoples .

For his part, the Egyptian Consul Budai Halfa El-Sayed explained that he is happy to be with the two brotherly crescents, stressing the keenness of the Egyptian government to sustain the provision of humanitarian aid to the affected brothers in Sudan.
