Al-Burhan Back Home After Successful Summit with the Emir of Qatar
Head of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah al-Burhan, returned to Sudan this afternoon after a short visit to Qatar, during which he held a summit meeting and bilateral talks with His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, at the Amiri Diwan.
The talks addressed the course of Sudanese-Qatari relations and ways to support and develop them in a manner that serves the interests of the two brotherly peoples.
During the talks, according to the Sudan News Agency, Al-Burhan expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Emir of Qatar for the warm welcome and generous hospitality, praising Qatar’s honorable stances in support of Sudan. He affirmed the Sudanese side’s keenness to enhance cooperation between the two countries, noting the longstanding ties that bind Sudan and Qatar.
His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani welcomed His Excellency Head of the Sovereign Council and the accompanying delegation, expressing his hope that this visit would contribute to strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding it to broader horizons.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the progress of bilateral relations in various fields, in addition to discussing developments in Sudan and international efforts to achieve security, stability, and peace, in a manner that preserves Sudan’s unity and sovereignty over all its territory.
The Sudanese delegation included Foreign Minister Mohi El-Din Salem, Finance Minister Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, Central Bank Governor Amina Mirghani, Director of the General Intelligence Service Lieutenant General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal, Sudanese Ambassador to Qatar Badr El-Din Abdullah, and Major General Adel Sabdarat, Director of the Office of the Chairman of the Sovereign Council.
Also present from the Qatari side were His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; His Excellency Mr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, Chief of the Amiri Diwan; His Excellency Mr. Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of Finance; His Excellency Mr. Khalfan bin Ali Al Kaabi, Head of the State Security Service; His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and a number of other senior Qatari officials.
