Agricultural Bank Allocates SDG105 Billion to Finance Wheat and Cotton for the Upcoming Season

The Director of the Agricultural Bank, Salah Abdel Rahim, announced the allocation of 105 billion pounds to finance wheat and cotton cultivation for the upcoming season, in addition to financing small projects and establishing grain silos in Gezira State.

During his visit to the state, he affirmed the bank’s readiness to meet the needs through its 14 branches spread across Gezira.

Abdel Rahim emphasized the importance of capitalizing on the added value of agricultural products and encouraging small industries. He called for a scientific vision to revitalize the Gezira Scheme by integrating livestock production into the agricultural cycle and adhering to modern technologies and technical standards, considering the success of agriculture in Gezira a success for Sudan as a whole.

For his part, the Governor of Gezira, Al-Tahir Ibrahim Al-Khair, called on the Agricultural Bank to expand its financing of the horticultural sector and the Gezira Scheme. In the same context, the Minister of Finance, Atef Mohamed Ibrahim, affirmed his ministry’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with the bank.

For her part, the Director General of the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources and Minister Plenipotentiary, Dr. Arafa Mahmoud, praised the bank’s role in supporting production, urging an increase in the financing ceiling for producers.

Additionally, the Director of Gezira Microfinance Foundation, Adlan Abdel Rahim, revealed the foundation’s intention to finance solar energy systems along the Nile River and support youth projects.
