Wad Al-Sayeh Secondary School for Girls Celebrates 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence

The celebrations of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence continued under the slogan “Be the One Who Was the Strength” in the East Nile locality of Wad Al-Sayeh Secondary School for Girls, under the auspices of the Director General of the Ministry of Social Development the Acting Minister , Siddiq Hassan Farini. This campaign is organized by the General Directorate of Women and Family at the Ministry in cooperation with civil society organizations and in coordination with the Social Development Department in the locality.
Hajar Ismail Abdel Rahman, Director of the Women and Family Department, praised the steadfastness of Sudanese women despite their suffering, as they are exposed to the worst types of violations and violence by the Rapid Support Militia, which targeted women who resisted difficult conditions. She pointed out that psychological and social support services are provided, especially for survivors.
Hajar conveyed the greetings of the Minister of Social Development, Siddiq Freini, who has been present in the campaign since its launch and supports all women’s programs and activities, and thanked the Social Development Department in the local area and the school family for hosting the event and the participating organizations for its success.
The representative of the Social Development Department and the Coordinator of Women and Family, Ibtisam Jadeen, confirmed the launch of the campaign within the framework of raising awareness of women’s rights and how to protect them from violence of all kinds.
The representative of the organizations, Mubarak Bashir, affirmed their keenness to support initiatives that touch on community and women’s issues, and their endeavor to stand up for support and partnership with the Ministry through its various departments.
Ikhlas Sheikh El-Din, the principal of the school, expressed her happiness with the awareness lectures and saluted the armed forces, wishing everyone to enjoy a stable and secure homeland, interspersed with awareness lectures on digital violence and its psychological and social effects presented by Omaima Mohieddin, and creations by female students, Korak and Wad Al-Sayeh, religious and patriotic chanting, and advocacy for women in Darfur and Kordofan.
