The Minister of Justice meets with the Committee for the Investigation of the Militia’s Crimes at the Arab Lawyers Union.

Mohamed Al-Murad, the former President of the Lebanese Bar Association, Assistant Secretary General of the Arab Lawyers Union, and head of the investigation team into the crimes of the rebel militia, along with his delegation—which included Abdel Gawad Ahmed, Assistant Secretary General of the Arab Lawyers Union, and Maulana Tariq Abdel Fattah, Assistant President of the Secretary of External Relations at the Sudanese Bar Association—arrived today.

The delegation met with the Minister of Justice, Maulana Abdullah Darf, and the President of the Sudanese Bar Association, Zain El Abidin Mohamed Hamad. The head of the investigation team and his delegation received a full and comprehensive briefing on the violations and crimes committed by the militia against citizens since the outbreak of the war.

In press statements following his meeting with the delegation this evening in the administrative capital, Minister of Justice Maulana Abdullah Darf welcomed the delegation, noting that the committee has done very great work with regard to the investigation of the militia’s crimes, and said that it has already submitted two decisions in this regard.

Derf explained that the committee will now visit the victims of El Fasher in Dibba to listen and document those crimes and violations committed by the militia in order to present these atrocities through a report that will have an aftermath in terms of consolidating human rights and reflecting the crimes to the international community.

The head of the investigation team on violations of human rights, international humanitarian law, war crimes and humanitarian crimes, Mohammed Al-Murad, stressed that the investigation team has made a great effort in its previous reports to reach conclusions that are suitable for solid evidence to condemn these atrocities committed by the militia against the Sudanese people.

Murad described their meeting with the Minister of Justice as important, noting that he provided them with highlights that serve the investigation work and the conclusions that the investigation team wants in order to reach the submission of a deep, solid report that is supported by evidence and data, and to be presented to all regional and international judicial bodies.

Murad also praised the Sudanese Bar Association – by receiving and facilitating the delegation’s tasks, in addition to providing them with an enlightenment on the militia’s crimes.

Abdel Gawad Ahmed Al-Muhaji, Assistant Secretary General of the Arab Lawyers Union and a member of the Fact-Finding Committee, said, “We visited Sudan for the first time.” In order to identify the crimes and violations of the militia”, he added, “We came to document, verify, monitor and investigate to investigate the truth in the violations in accordance with the international standards of the United Nations.

Maulana Zain Al-Abidin Mohamed Hamad – President of the Sudanese Bar Association – confirmed that the purpose of the investigation committee’s visit is to find out the nature in the field to document the violations of the rebel militia, and said, “There will be a field tour and visits to specific and specific parties, noting that the delegation’s visit will take about a week.

Maulana Zain El Abidine confirmed that the delegation’s report will be presented at the meeting of the Permanent Bureau on April 6, 2026, noting that the committee has already submitted two reports in October 2024 in Marrakech and August 2025 in Tunis.
