The first meeting of the Committee for the Collection, Inventory, and Management of Scrap Iron in Khartoum and Gezira States

The first meeting of the Supreme Committee for the Collection, Inventory, and Management of Scrap Iron in the States of Khartoum and Gezira was held at the Cabinet Hall, chaired by the Minister of Justice, Dr. Abdullah Darf, with the membership of the relevant authorities.

The meeting discussed the tasks and competencies of the committee, which are represented in the collection and inventory of scrap iron in the states of Gezira and Khartoum, how to deal with scrap in accordance with the law, and the development of procedures and control measures that prevent the smelting and use of stolen, looted, and abandoned scrap iron.

The meeting also emphasized the need to add the states that were not included in the resolution, namely the states of Sennar, White Nile, and Blue Nile.

The meeting praised the efforts of the Higher Committee for the Preparation of the Environment for the return of citizens to the State of Khartoum, headed by Lieutenant General Engineer Ibrahim Jaber, a member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, and the special committee to collect the scrap that branched from it, and the need for the members of the committee in the state of Khartoum to be within the competent committee and build on what it has achieved.

Technical committees have been formed in the states to count, compile, and classify scrap iron. Additionally, a technical committee has been established to inventory and classify scrap iron at the Ports Authority, headed by the Minister of Industry and Trade, with the membership of the competent authorities. This committee will submit a recommendation to the Supreme Committee after examining its documents and reviewing its legal status.
