Sudan addresses the joint meeting of African ambassadors with their counterparts in the European Union in Geneva

The Permanent Representative of Sudan to Geneva, Ambassador Hassan Hamid Hassan, addressed the joint consultative meeting of African ambassadors with their counterparts from European Union countries, which was held today at the United Nations Palace in Geneva.
As the coordinator of the African Group on migration, the Ambassador reviewed the priorities and challenges facing the African continent in the areas of migration governance and how to address its root causes.
He stressed the need to invest in addressing the root causes of migration and supporting capacity building across the continent, in line with the Luanda Summit Declaration, including a development-oriented approach for countries affected by conflict, climate change, and resource scarcity. He noted that solutions to migration issues should not be limited to preventing individual migration, but should focus on supporting sustainable solutions and addressing the underlying drivers through development support, which includes leveraging the structures of the International Organization for Migration to achieve these goals.
