Drone, Heavy Weapons, and Hazardous Chemicals Seized in Northern State

The Anti-Smuggling Department in the Northern State, in coordination with the Security Cell and the Public Prosecutor’s Office, conducted a successful operation that resulted in the seizure of large quantities of weapons, equipment, and prohibited materials, following a raid on warehouses in the Al-Ghaba area.

The seized items included a drone and a control device, along with (7) various cannons, sniper rifles, pistols, and ammunition of different calibers, in addition to 60 B10 shells, grenades, weapon magazines, wireless communication devices including Starlink, four unlicensed vehicles, and various other equipment and tools.

The forces also seized 10 barrels containing highly dangerous chemicals, including ethyl acetate and ceretyl, which are used in illegal activities such as currency counterfeiting, illicit printing operations, commercial fraud, and food adulteration, posing a direct threat to the country’s economic and health security.

Lieutenant General (Police) Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, Director General of Customs Forces, praised the operation, considering it a significant achievement reflecting the high efficiency of the anti-smuggling forces. Major General Jamal Al-Awad Al-Amin, Assistant Director General for Anti-Smuggling, also affirmed that the operation demonstrated a high level of vigilance and professionalism.

For his part, Brigadier General Atef Al-Radi, Director of the Anti-Smuggling Department in the Northern State, explained that the operation was made possible by close monitoring and tracking of the smugglers’ movements. He noted that all necessary legal measures were taken regarding the seized goods, and affirmed his forces’ constant readiness to secure the state’s borders and confront all forms of smuggling that threaten security and stability.
