Al-Burhan Heads to Saudi Arabia on Official Visit at the Invitation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman

Head of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah al-Burhan, departs today, Monday, for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on an official visit, at the invitation of Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Informed sources said that the visit will include bilateral talks between Al-Burhan and the Saudi Crown Prince, focusing on the latest developments in Sudan, as well as details of the initiative presented by Prince Mohammed bin Salman to US President Donald Trump, which calls for an end to the war that has been raging in Sudan for more than two and a half years.

This visit comes amidst accelerating regional and international efforts to revive peace processes, especially after President Trump announced his readiness to personally intervene in the Sudanese crisis at the direct request of the Saudi Crown Prince, with the aim of halting the conflict and achieving stability.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a key strategic ally of Sudan and has repeatedly affirmed its unwavering support for Sudan’s unity and territorial integrity, its categorical rejection of any secession or the establishment of parallel governments, and its full support for the legitimate government in the country.

The talks are also expected to cover strengthening bilateral cooperation in the economic, security, and humanitarian fields, given the challenges Sudan faces as a result of the ongoing war.
