AcoGaps… Remarkable Success and Wide Resonance for the Leadership in Emergency Situations Course

The “Effective Leadership in Emergency Situations” course, organized by the African Center for Governance, Peace, and Transition Studies (AcoGaps ) in Port Sudan, garnered widespread attention and high praise for the quality of the training content, the level of participation, and the organization.

Representatives from 23 entities, including ministries, commissions, companies, and national bodies, along with representatives from armed struggle movements, discussed the most effective administrative leadership methods and their success in emergency situations over two days at the Red Sea Police Hall.

This reflects the growing confidence in the Center’s programs and the effectiveness of its approach to building institutional capacity.

Professor Sir Al-Khatim Abdel-Rahim Tutu, Professor of Administrative Development and Peacebuilding and Secretary-General of the South Kordofan Reconstruction Fund, delivered the introductory lectures on the first day. Dr. Mohi El-Din Naim, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum and an expert in administrative development, led the second day’s sessions, focusing on modern leadership and effective crisis management techniques.

The workshop was very well received by the participants, who praised its scientific content and affirmed that it provided an important platform for developing leadership thinking and enhancing emergency response capabilities within government institutions. They emphasized the importance of continuing such programs to address current challenges.

For his part, the Director-General of the Center, Dr. Mahmoud Zain Al-Abidine Mahmoud, expressed his pride in the workshop’s great success, noting that the high level of engagement reflects growing confidence in the Center’s role in supporting institutional reform. He added that this event was the 51st activity since the Center’s headquarters relocated to Port Sudan in June 2023, and that more than four thousand trainees have benefited from the Center’s programs.

The workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates, with emphasis placed on the fact that developing leadership capabilities is an urgent necessity to enhance institutional preparedness and achieve a more effective response in emergency situations.
