UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Says World Shocked by El Fasher Atrocities

Head of the Sovereignty Council, Abdul Fattah al-Burhan, reiterated on Tuesday Sudan’s commitment to cooperating with the United Nations and its various agencies, particularly in the humanitarian field.
This came during his meeting today at his office with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Tom Fletcher, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Muawiya Othman Khalid, who stated in press remarks following the meeting that the Head of the Sovereignty Council emphasized the need for UN agencies to respect Sudan’s sovereignty and national interests, given the atrocities and crimes committed in El Fasher by the RSF terrorist militia.
He pointed out their use of food as a weapon to starve the citizens of El Fasher.
Tom Fletcher, for his part, said that the humanitarian crisis in Sudan poses significant risks, noting that the UN Security Council held a session last week in which it expressed its shock at the violations and atrocities committed against civilians in El Fasher.
