PM Issues Decree Exempting Furniture and Electrical Appliances for Returning Citizens from Customs Duties

Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris issued a decree exempting household furniture and personal electrical appliances for Sudanese citizens returning from abroad from customs duties.

The decree includes Sudanese citizens who left the country due to the war and comes as part of the government’s commitment to supporting voluntary return and alleviating the burdens on citizens affected by the conflict.

The decree stipulates that the exemption covers household furniture including a bedroom set, a children’s bedroom set, a living room set, a bookcase, a dining set, a refrigerator, a washing machine, two televisions (two screens), kitchen appliances, a stove, a microwave, two air conditioners, carpets, and six beds.

The decree clarifies that the exemption period extends for one full year from the date of its issuance.

The Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, the General Administration of Customs, the Ministries of Industry and Trade, and other relevant authorities to take the necessary measures to implement the decision.

This decision comes within the framework of government arrangements aimed at facilitating the return of citizens from abroad, taking into account the exceptional circumstances Sudan is currently experiencing.
