Al-Burhan: The Sudanese State is Targeted and This Targeting Must Be Confronted

Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah al-Burhan, affirmed that the battle for dignity is a battle for the survival of all Sudanese people, and he will not accept half-measures during this difficult period for the country.

Al-Burhan stated that the solutions currently being proposed are a blatant call for the division of Sudan. He added that the Sudanese state is being targeted, therefore it is imperative to unite and stand together to confront this targeting.

He questioned how a ceasefire could be implemented while militias occupy cities and regions.

Al-Burhan clarified the necessity of disarming these militias and ensuring they surrender their weapons with guarantees.

He continued, “No one can impose Hamdok and Hemedti on us.”

He said that those who dream of ruling Sudan, foremost among them Hamdok, will not be able to rule it again, adding that those residing abroad must return home and face the Sudanese people. He added that talk of the government obstructing humanitarian aid is nothing but a scare tactic, pointing out that the government has opened all airports to relief convoys.

Al-Burhan noted the international community’s inaction in aiding the people of El Fasher, and referred to the UN Security Council resolutions regarding lifting the siege of El Fasher, which the rebel militia has not implemented, and against which no action has been taken.
