African Union Envoy for the Prevention of Genocide meets with members of the National Human Rights Machinery

The Minister of Justice, Dr. Abdullah Darf, Chairman of the National Human Rights Mechanism, met today at the Cabinet Hall with the African Union Envoy for the Prevention of Genocide, Adama Deng, in the presence of members of the National Human Rights Mechanism.
The Rapporteur of the National Mechanism, Head of the Legal Sector, Maulana Yasser Sayed Ahmed Al-Hassan, said that the Minister thanked the African Union Envoy for his support for Sudan’s positions in international and regional forums and his understanding of the violations against Sudan and the victims of this militia.

He added that the Minister and the members of the mechanism provided a detailed explanation of the atrocities committed by the rebel terrorist militia in relation to the genocide committed by the Massalit tribe, especially against the Masalit tribe and in the areas of Wad al-Noura, El Abyad, Bara, El Geneina and El Fasher.

The members of the Mechanism provided an explanation of the unprecedented aggression against the Sudanese people in its recent history, where the terrorist Rapid Support Militia and its mercenaries and supporters have committed and continue to commit brutal massacres against unarmed civilians, including genocide, killing on the basis of ethnicity, looting of public and private property, forced displacement of citizens and destruction of infrastructure.

Maulana Yasser called on the envoy of the African Union to support Sudan’s position in classifying the militia as a terrorist organization in accordance with what the National Committee formed in accordance with Security Council resolution 1373 has done and what has been supported by some regional mechanisms, as happened recently in the Ministerial Conference and the Great Lakes Summit.
