A successful visit by the Minister of Welfare and Social Development to the Blue Nile Region

The Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare, Mutasem Ahmed Saleh, concluded his visit to the Blue Nile Region with a visit to the Kakar and Souda regions in Bau Governorate yesterday, Friday, November 28, 2025, accompanied by the Governor of the region, Lieutenant General Ahmed Al-Omda Badi, the Secretary General of the Regional Government, the Minister of Health, Welfare and Social Development, the Governor of Bau, and the leaders of the social protection system.

In a post on his Facebook page, Mutasem Ahmed Saleh said that during the three-day visit to the Blue Nile, he directly reviewed the conditions of citizens, vulnerable groups, and returnees, and was briefed on the magnitude of the challenges left by the war in water, education, health, and basic services. He worked with the regional government and the social protection system to develop urgent and sustainable solutions.

He stressed that the government of hope is steadily moving forward in rebuilding what was destroyed by the war, expanding the umbrella of social protection, strengthening basic services, and providing direct assistance to citizens wherever they are.

As Bao province witnesses the voluntary return of tens of thousands of war-ravaged citizens whose basic services have been destroyed, the Minister of Human Resources said he had to stand on the ground and intervene directly.

In the Kakar area, the minister and the accompanying delegation faced a suffocating water crisis after the pumping machine of the only tanker malfunctioned, forcing people to drink from ponds and cliffs. They immediately provided a new pumping machine for the return of water to citizens. The delegation visited the primary school, whose roofs had fallen and whose doors and windows had been uprooted, and children were learning under trees, so the minister ensured the urgent maintenance of the classrooms.

According to the minister, the delegation also visited the water reservoir (dam), which has accumulated sand and silt in its canals and streams, reducing the level of stored water to a point that does not meet the needs of the area. Coordination has begun to rehabilitate the dam and its canals to ensure water security for the people.

The minister and the accompanying delegation inaugurated the Kakar Health Center, which was built by the Health Insurance. A small operating room and a delivery room were added to it, and a midwife was allocated to the center. They also provided it with the necessary medicines, and the center operates using solar energy.

A free treatment camp was set up that included internal medicine, pediatrics, dermatology, dentistry, a public clinic, a laboratory, and a pharmacy.

As for the Souda area, which also receives tens of thousands of returnees, the minister’s delegation faced similar problems. He visited the health center of the health insurance and directed the addition of a small operating room and a delivery room with a midwife, and the centre was equipped with a Starlink device to provide direct contact with the emergency medicines, and the general practitioner was also motivated to work in exceptional circumstances.
He visited the only primary school still under construction, and the Minister ensured with the Governor of the Territory that the remaining classes were completed.

On the way back, the Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare laid the foundation stone for the Zakat Office and the Health Center in the Dering area of Bau locality, a strategic area that represents a crossroads linking Bao, Karmak and Qaisan, and the center will enhance the presence of health services in this vital axis.
