Third Waterfall Conference in Dalgo Locality Kicks-off
The representative of the Governor of Northern State and Secretary of the Supreme Council for Tourism and Antiquities in Northern State, Dr. Abdul Rahman Ibrahim Saeed, attended the opening ceremony of the Third Waterfall Conference in Dalgo Locality
The event was attended by the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Culture and Information, Mr. Al-Baqir Okasha; the Executive Director of Dalgo Locality, Mr. Mudather Sharaf Al-Din Abdullah; the Rapporteur of the Popular Resistance in Northern State; a representative of Dongola University; the Head of the Popular Resistance in the locality; members of his office; the President of the General Union of Mahas Sheikhs; and dignitaries and prominent figures from Delgo Locality, among others.
They witnessed the opening of the Third Waterfall Conference at the Taha Tawfiq Complex in Koka, which was titled “Introduction to History, Archaeology, Urbanism, and Language” and was held under the slogan “Nubia: The Origin of Civilization and History.”
The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Tourism and Antiquities in Northern State, the representative of the Governor, spoke about the ancient history of the Third Waterfall, highlighting its attractiveness due to the availability of all the tourism components that contribute to the region’s renaissance, indicating that such gatherings contribute to the intellectual and moral renaissance Sudan needs. He also spoke about the harmful effects of random gold mining and the environmental and economic damage it causes to the tourism and antiquities sectors, promising to develop appropriate solutions. He pointed to a partnership between the Supreme Council for Tourism and Antiquities, the Taha Center, and the General Union of Mahas Sheikhs, particularly regarding random mining.
Abdul Rahman added that establishing a comprehensive museum of heritage and antiquities in the Dalgo locality is one of the council’s priorities in the coming period.
Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Culture and Information, Al-Baqir Okasha, said that such conferences contribute to the Nubian renaissance and the resolution of Nubian issues. He emphasized the need to pay attention to Nubian heritage and identity and preserve them through awareness, customs, and traditions, indicating that Nubian people are present in all development sites in Sudan.
Okasha emphasized the importance of the Supreme Council for Culture and Information’s commitment to preserving culture, customs, and traditions and avoiding the drift toward intellectual alienation.
For his part, the Executive Director of the Dalgo Locality explained that such meetings and gatherings contribute to the preservation of history and heritage, praising the efforts of the brothers Mujahid and Shazly Tawfiq in organizing this conference and assisting scholars and historians involved in heritage.
He expressed his thanks to everyone who attended and contributed to this important scientific conference, the Third Waterfall Conference, in addition to the scholars who came from outside Sudan and from its various states.
Sharaf El-Din indicated that scientific papers will continue in the coming days to bring Nubian civilization and heritage back to the forefront. He indicated that the executive administration of the Dalgo Locality, in coordination with the Northern State government and the Supreme Council for Tourism and Antiquities in the state, will oversee the recommendations of this conference.
It is worth noting that the Third Waterfall Conference will feature scientific papers presented by leading scholars interested in Nubian heritage, in addition to a number of diverse cultural and heritage segments. The conference will continue until next Thursday, God willing.
