Minnawi: No alternative to the army except the army

Darfur Governor, Minni Arko Minnawi, said that there is no alternative to the Sudanese army except the Sudanese army. He emphasized that their choice to stand behind the national front was for the sake of the unity of Sudan, its land and its people.

During his speech on Tuesday evening, at an enlightening meeting with political and civil society leaders on the situation in Darfur at the Sudan House in Cairo, Minnawi called for the need to support the popular will and work to resolve the country’s problems.
He reiterated his rejection of the rebel militia’s claim of establishing a parallel government.

Minnawi spoke about the steps that politicians can take to put the country on the right track for the benefit of the Sudanese people. He expressed his pride in the country’s celebrations of the Armed Forces Day, as it is an occasion of national significance.

He called for the development of the National Committee to Lift the Siege of El Fasher, headed by Azhari Mubarak, to achieve the desired goal. Minnawi revealed that there are large numbers of people inside El Fasher in urgent need of humanitarian aid. May God have mercy on the martyrs of the landslide that occurred in the Jebel Marra area due to the rains.
