Prime Minister Sends Urgent Message to International Community

Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris called on the UN Security Council to continue its efforts to confront what he described as the militia’s “terrorist threat” to the stability of Sudan and the region, by declaring it a terrorist organization and taking practical steps to halt its crimes.

Idris praised the Security Council statement issued Wednesday morning, which rejected the formation of any militia government in Sudan, considering the position to reflect support for the country’s unity and sovereignty. He emphasized that the government welcomes this step and sees it as a basis for developing its strategy in dealing with the Council.

The Prime Minister called on the Council to exert effective pressure to compel the militia to lift the siege on El Fasher, Kadugli, Dilling, Babanusa, and other cities, and to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to besieged civilians. He warned of the serious consequences of any failure to act.

Intensive Diplomatic Action

Idris directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant foreign relations agencies to intensify diplomatic efforts and inform the international community of the facts that confirm Sudan’s previous warnings about the dangers of overlooking the militia’s crimes and violations to regional peace.

A Step Considered a Turning Point in the International Position

Idris emphasized that the Security Council’s position, which described the formation of a parallel government as a direct threat to the unity and integrity of Sudan, represents an important turning point in the international position. He indicated that Khartoum will build on this momentum to push the international community toward more stringent action.
