Fifth Train Departs for Return from Cairo

The Citizen

The Egyptian Railway Authority is preparing to operate the fifth train designated for transporting Sudanese brethren, as part of the government’s plan to ensure their free return to their country via the Ergeen crossing. This arrangement comes within the framework of Egyptian-Sudanese cooperation to facilitate the movement of stranded people and those wishing to voluntarily return to Sudan after years of displacement and suffering.
The Egyptian government confirmed that these trains are operated free of charge for Sudanese passengers, in an effort to enable them to return easily and without additional financial burdens, given the difficult conditions Sudan has been experiencing since the outbreak of war in April 2023. This step is one in a series of successive trips organized since last June, with the number of Sudanese returning via trains and border crossings rising to thousands of families.
