Strict controls in selecting new categories targeted for direct cash support

Director General of the Ministry of Social Development in Khartoum State and the Minister in Charge, Siddiq Hassan Freini, chaired a meeting on the Direct Cash Support Program, which included the directors of social development in the localities.
The meeting discussed arrangements for increasing the targeting of families in Khartoum State to 47,800,000, in addition to the 8,000. Freini emphasized that the increase is an advanced step in the field of poverty reduction and guarantees the financing of collective projects for the groups benefiting from cash support.
His Excellency pointed out the importance of the next stage and that there is no favoritism in selecting the new groups.
There are strict controls, and we will choose the poorest in accordance with the principle of transparency.
Freini mentioned the importance of social centers in the state, indicating that the ministry has a comprehensive vision and a workshop to evaluate the conditions of the centers, as they are a gateway to poverty alleviation.
His Excellency added that dealing professionally with the new lists is our approach, and it is an opportunity to correct the course, which requires a specialized reading to include all localities, all regions, and all segments according to clear concepts. Our priority is the families of martyrs.
The meeting discussed the categories that were added, namely people with disabilities, orphans, widows, and families of military and civilian martyrs, in specific percentages.
It also discussed the challenges that accompanied the distribution, replacement, and exchange.
For her part, the Director of the Community Development and Poverty Alleviation Department presented the direct cash support program, and confirmed that the next phase will witness the activation of social centers.
The meeting agreed to deliver the new lists within a short period of time, and the forms were received, through which registration will take place, in addition to daily reports on the registration status.
The Ministry received the green light with the approval of the Governor to immediately begin implementing the new targeting of families with direct cash support, bringing the total number to (56,182) thousand families.
