Saudi Arabia Offers Condolences to Sudan

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to the sisterly Republic of Sudan and to the families of the victims of the gold mine collapse in the Howaid area of ​​River Nile State, which resulted in the deaths of more than fifty workers and the injury of seven others.

In an official statement, the Kingdom affirmed its full solidarity and support for the government and people of Sudan in this difficult humanitarian situation, expressing hope for a speedy recovery for the injured and emphasizing the deep fraternal ties between the two countries.

Meanwhile, the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company announced an immediate halt to exploration operations at the site, stressing the dangers of working in unlicensed areas and reiterating its previous warnings to prospectors to avoid prohibited sites for their own safety.

This incident comes at a time when authorities are intensifying their efforts to regulate the traditional mining sector, amid calls for more legislation and field monitoring to reduce the recurring disasters in this vital sector.
