New Developments Following Abdel Rahim Daglo’s Injury

In a new development that reflects the worsening crisis within the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), field sources revealed that Abdel Rahim Daglo, the militia’s deputy commander, was transferred to Chad for treatment after sustaining serious injuries.
This comes amid a rising wave of anger and divisions within the militia’s ranks in Darfur.

According to the sources, bloody clashes erupted in the city of El Geneina between two militia groups, led by Habib Herika and Mohamed Elaio. The clashes were sparked by controversial decisions made by Daglo, including the graduation of untrained mobilized personnel and their deployment to the El Fasher battles before the rainy season.

Sources reported that the group of Mohamed Elaio the intelligence commander of the El Geneina sector, launched a drone attack on the Herika forces, killing dozens of his members and escalating tensions on the ground between the two sides.

Field reports indicate that the Rapid Support Forces in Darfur have split into rival factions and opposing tribal alliances, in the absence of leadership following the injury of Abdel Rahim Dagalo, which threatens to destabilize the security situation in the region.

Reports also indicated that Habib Herika was forced to flee and hide in a rented house belonging to the Red Cross after an assassination attempt by Elaio forces, who surrounded his home in El Geneina.

Dagalo’s transfer to Chad comes at a critical time, with growing disapproval within the militia of his leadership, and accusations of recklessness and mismanagement of field operations.
This has exacerbated tensions within the Rapid Support Forces and pushed the situation toward further disintegration and escalation.
