General Authority for Geological Research continues to train its staff in the latest remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS) technologies

On Monday, July 8, 2025, the African Minerals and Geosciences Centre (AMGC) celebrated the conclusion of a specialized training course entitled “Applications of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems in Geological Mapping” at the centre’s headquarters in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The closing ceremony was graced by the presence of the Deputy Head of the Sudanese Diplomatic Mission in Tanzania, Ambassador Asim Mustafa Nugud, who commended the centre’s and participants’ efforts in strengthening geological capabilities.

The course focused on equipping participants with advanced skills in:

Aerial Image Interpretation

Geographic Data Analysis

Spectral Analysis

Geologic Line Extraction

The course was attended by a selected group of geological cadres from the General Authority for Geological Research, including:

🔹 Consultant Geologist Mohamed Abdel Rahman Hammad Aqeed – Director of the River Nile State Office

🔹 Consultant Geologist Abu Bakr Mahmoud Mohamed – Director of the Red Sea State Office

🔹 Consultant Geologist Mudather Rajab Ahmed Mohamed – Director of the Northern State Office

🔹 Consultant Geologist Hussein Haj Youssef Mohamed Adam – Director of the Kassala State Office
