Editorial: Worthless conference

Sudan as state and people do not expect peace from outside, especially from America. We have passed the dangerous stage, when the state was threatened with collapse and the Janjaweed were on the verge of invading Sudan. Even at that stage, Sudan was neither begging mediators nor expecting them to save it.
Sudan was fighting and refusing to negotiate with a militia that was at the height of its victories and expansion.
Therefore, the most important aspect of the conference that the United States will hold on Sudan, with the participation of countries from the region, not including Sudan, is that we do not rely on it, neither for peace nor for war.
In other words, Sudan’s future is not dependent on this conference or any other foreign conferences.
The Sudanese people are not waiting for America to provide them with weapons to fight, nor are they waiting for the positions of countries in the region to defend their land and sovereignty.
Although they are demanding an end to the foreign support provided by the UAE and other countries in the region to the militia, they are not begging for it, and their fate is not dependent on the cessation of Emirati support nor on the position of America and countries in the region regarding this blatant support.
Sudan’s fate lies in the hands of its people, who are fighting under the leadership of the armed forces.
They have defeated the militias and those behind it.
The meaning and success of the US conference, or Trump’s conference on the war in Sudan, depends on the extent to which it responds to Sudan’s conditions, despite its absence.
Without consideration for Sudan and its interests, the conference is meaningless and worthless.
