Dr. Salma oversees arrangements for the return of the Ministry of Education and its institutions to Khartoum
Sovereignty Council member Dr. Salma Abdel-Jabbar Al-Mubarak reviewed the arrangements made by the Federal Ministry of Education and National Education for its full return to its main headquarters in the national capital, Khartoum, and the exercise of its duties from its permanent headquarters on Nile Street.
She was received by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and National Education, Ahmed Khalifa Omar, along with a number of ministry leaders.
Her Excellency listened to a detailed explanation of the ministry’s efforts to rehabilitate the main headquarters and its specialized departments, as well as the plan for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of schools. She noted that the Higher Committee for Environmental Preparation and the Return of Citizens is keen to restore all essential services in Khartoum State, foremost among them education services, as this is the primary factor in achieving the desired renaissance.
Dr. Salma explained that the visit revealed the extent of the systematic destruction targeting the education infrastructure. She emphasized that in the near future, significant work will be undertaken to maintain and rehabilitate schools so that they can resume operations as soon as possible and students can resume their studies.
The Sovereignty Council member added that the post-war period will witness a strong push towards building and developing minds through the spread and expansion of education and knowledge among the Sudanese people, with a new understanding of patriotism, construction, and reconstruction.
For his part, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and National Education expressed his happiness with the growing interest of the Sovereignty Council and the important visit of the Council member to the headquarters of the Federal Ministry, where he witnessed firsthand the extent of the extensive destruction suffered by educational institutions at the hands of rebel militia members. He revealed a transitional plan developed by his ministry for the reconstruction of education in Sudan, with the participation of all the country’s states and a number of donors and national and international partnerships to contribute to the reconstruction of educational institutions in Sudan.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education also reassured parents that schools and educational institutions in Sudan will return more beautiful and attractive to students and pupils, both in terms of buildings and facilities.
