Sudan Calls for All Nuclear Facilities in the Region to Be Subject to Monitoring and Inspection

Sudan called on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the international community to strengthen and intensify efforts aimed at bringing all Middle Eastern countries into the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), including Israeli nuclear facilities, and to subject all nuclear facilities in the region to the IAEA’s comprehensive safeguards system.

Sudan reiterated its call for all parties involved in the Iranian nuclear crisis to exercise restraint and avoid escalation, stressing that the only way to resolve differences is through dialogue and peaceful negotiations.

This came in a statement delivered by Ambassador Magdi Ahmed Mufaddal, Sudan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and International Organizations in Vienna, before the emergency meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors, held on Monday in light of recent developments in the region.

In his speech, Ambassador Magdi expressed Sudan’s deep concern over the recent escalation in the region following the US attacks on nuclear facilities in Iran and the Israeli attacks on Iran since June 13, 2025.
