IGAD Executive Secretary Meets AU Chairperson

The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), H.E. Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, held a meeting today with the Chairperson of the African Union.
The two officials discussed the AU–REC coordination with IGAD, besides the conflict in Sudan and other pressing peace and security challenges.

After that fruitful meeting, Dr.
Workneh Gebeyehu posted the following:

“Held a productive meeting today with the Chairperson of the African Union, H.E. Mahmoud Ali yousif
Our exchange focused on strengthening AU–REC coordination, with IGAD reaffirming its role as Chair of the Inter-REC Coordination Platform. We emphasised the critical role of RECs as the building blocks of the African Union.
We also addressed the conflict in Sudan and other pressing peace and security challenges of the Region. We agreed on actionable measures to coordinate our efforts to address the challenges.”
