U.S Sanctions: A topic of Debate

Under the round of sanctions the United States will restrict exports to Sudan and its access to U.S government loans.

Sudan strongly denounced the recent sanctions, calling them a form of political blackmail.

In fact, and in practical terms, the effect will be limited as the government is already under sanctions imposed last month.

The website of DiploFoundation said the economic sanctions have had limited success in achieving their intended goals ,due to various factors.

The sanctions have impacted the Sudanese economy and government, but they have also harmed civilians and hindered humanitarian aid.

The effectiveness of sanctions remains a topic of debate among policymakers and analysts.

Some analysts say sanctions can have devastating consequences for civilians already suffering from the effects of the war. Others suggest exploring alternative approaches to address the conflict in Sudan.

The new sanctions that will come into effect next month come at a time when SAF is surging ahead with its plan to break the siege imposed on Elfasher city by the RSF for nearly two years now.

Many see the timing of the U.S move as suspicious, particularly as the whole world is witnessing the growing number of displaced citizens who are returning back to their homes in various towns and villages recently liberated by the army.
