SDG420 million from the Red Sea Zakat Chamber for Eid al-Adha

Abdul Qadir Hassan Abdul Qadir, Secretary-General of the Zakat Chamber in the Red Sea State, revealed that the state’s Zakat Chamber has allocated (420) million Sudanese pounds to be distributed during Eid al-Adha to those wounded in operations, armed forces bases in the state, students, and residents of the psychiatric and neurological hospitals and shelters.
In a special statement, he said that the number of zakat seekers has increased by 500% in the state due to the war and displacement.
He indicated that the poverty rate in the Red Sea State has become significant, especially after the state began receiving war-displaced people.
He noted that zakat has only reached 25% of the state’s poor.
The Secretary General of Zakat in the Red Sea State added that they support the Martyrs’ Organization, orphanage sponsorship centers, and neighborhood shelters.
Abdul Qadir pointed out that the Zakat Office in the Red Sea State has contracts with government hospitals in Port Sudan to contribute to patients’ treatment costs.
He affirmed that the Office annually releases prisoners with legal debts. In response to a question about the zakat resources that can be relied upon after the Rapid Support Forces militia destroyed crops and livestock and looted factories and companies.
He said that zakat on minerals continues to flow regularly, in addition to zakat on markets and livestock in the Red Sea State.
He pointed to an increase in zakat revenues in the state.
