Higher Education Announces the Beginning of a Stronger and Brighter Building Phase

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced the start of the implementation of the program for a gradual return to work from within Khartoum State, after the complete destruction of its headquarters by the rebel Rapid Support militia, as part of a systematic attack targeting the infrastructure of higher education institutions.
The Minister of Higher Education, Professor Mohamed Hassan Dahab, said in a press statement that the ministry’s headquarters witnessed comprehensive destruction, and its contents were looted, as well as the deliberate burning of official and archival documents. He added that a committee from the ministry, in cooperation with security agencies, assessed the scale of the destruction that hit the ministry’s buildings in Khartoum.

The initial losses were estimated at more than fifty million dollars, with a full fire rate of 100% for the Presidency Building and about 60% for the building of the General Administration for Admission, Evaluation and Documentation of Certificates, the Minister stressed that the Ministry will move steadily towards reconstruction, driven by its deep belief in the role of higher education institutions in shaping the future of Sudan.
Prof. Dahab praised the spirit of steadfastness shown by the employees of the Ministry and its educational institutions.
